I have always had an affinity for old things. Whether it’s timeworn furnishings for the home or well-used tools in the shop, I’m drawn to objects that carry history, purpose, and care in their making. I’ve been collecting and making for as long as I can remember.
I grew up in the Northwest, surrounded by woods, trails, and an abundance of nature. That early closeness to the land shaped my appreciation for craftsmanship and my respect for the materials that come from it.
Although I spent my working life in technology, my hands and heart were always in the woodshop.
In 1980, I wandered into the shop of Curtis Buchanan, one of the nation’s premier Windsor chair makers. That visit changed everything. It was there that I committed myself to working with my hands and to learning the traditions of hand-tool woodworking.
Today, my focus is on handcrafted spoons, mallets, and Windsor chairs. Each piece is made slowly, thoughtfully, and with respect for traditional methods. From time to time, I also accept custom piece orders.
